Windowblind-Skinstudio Tut by mrrste Windowblind-Skinstudio Tut by mrrste
I've finally finished it. The very FIRST Windowblinds/Skinstudio Video Tutorial :-) If you have ever wanted to make, mod or create your own windowblind skin, now you can cause i show you exactly how too in 43 flash video tutorials.
I have even supplied theme resources so you can do exactly what i do. I know not everyone will want to create or the skin ive chose, but this is the best way to show you how to use skinstudio wether your working with your own creation and resources, or actually porting a skin.

Due the the file size of 511mb (split into 6 parts), hosting needed and bandwidth, DA and in particular Abe-X (Gallery Director), has kindly let me host this on my website and will also be overlooking it's welfare. So to DA for making me an exception and to abe-x for his support, i want to thank you :)

So quit waiting around and come to HollywoodGUI.com [link] the home of the only wb tutorial ;) Registration is totally open

All i ask is if you have never made a skin in your life, and u then manage too, is to let me know that i helped as this was A LOT of work and i want to know its done its job :D

Hello again `mrrste. I have registered twice at HollywoodGUI -
in both cases I immediately received the automatic e-mail ('Before you can login and start using the forum, your request will be reviewed and approved. When this happens, you will receive another email from this address.')
The problem is I've never gotten the second e-mail.
-hope you can help...

Hi mrrste! I would really love to download your skin studio video tutorial..........is there any possible way that you could e-mail it to me PLEASE? IceBabee10@aol.com. I love your work and coming up with a video was totally brilliant. It gives people like me the chance to create themes and understand what to do.......instead of feeling like you are reading a foreign language! Thanks so much........and I would appreciate, no .....I would be honored to have your video...........:)

Well I see I'm not the only sucker clicking to join that site a year ago and still no one is able to join leads me to believe your getting paid for clicks and the rest of us suckers are just wasting our time.

Funny aren't you

An interesting "logic". I'm sure the 3,600 members would disagree no-one could join. Would be handy to be paid for clicks but that only works for ad's, not sites, but I'm sure you knew that already.

I would usually be more courteous in a reply but I'll just treat it for what it deserves.

I am also waiting for an activation mail for quite some time now. Without your tutorial I will most likely never be able to do anything with SkinStudio other than mess existing WindowBlinds up - completely :D Perhaps it'll help you if I tell you that I have created an account named "Diavolus", just like my nick here at dA... I hope it does ;)

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

Nope, 8 days of inactive account and again account deleted without any messages, ah well, I'll continue with uxtheme.dll hack and not buy Windowblinds. Tutorial good for anyone who can gain access, but it seems whoever keeps rejecting over and over just doesn't like people for no reason at all.

Have tried multiple times to register aswell as a few friends, but every time rejected, this last time just having my account deleted without even informing me. Why not upload this through torrent? So that the 90% of us who get rejected over and over can view it. Would like to be part of the community and contribute any skins I make.

Trying to register one last time anyway, and I assume an account is needed to access the download so no one can link me.

@mrrste-

You are SO talented and I've followed your work for some time. I've even been using it for a long time - whether it's Windowblinds skins, Object Dock stuff, etc. I was excited to find this tutorial - which I've missed in the past for some reason - but my excitement quickly passed when I saw your comment to visit/register at HollywoodGUI.com.

I've tried MANY times in the past to get registered with that site. Yes - registration may very well be 'open' but - as far as I can tell from my experience - any response or actual registration *acceptance* is closed!

Whoever runs the site and believed they needed full control over every registration doesn't seem to understand that they actually have to follow up on those registrations and ACCEPT them.

In fact, out of the 10 or so registrations I've submitted over the past, I received ONE response - DECLINING my registration for no specific reason - i.e. - no explanation was provided in the generic message I received. I have tried registering with different email addresses (that I legitimately and actively use) with no response.

I'm sure the site offers some fantastic stuff and I'd welcome the opportunity to take part in it - and eventually share my own creations. However, as of right now, I cannot find one *good* thing to say about HollywoodGUI.com and/or its owner/moderator.

This is *no* reflection on you, mrrste! Please don't take it that way. I just want other DA users to know they won't get anywhere with that website should they actually try to register. It's a complete waste of time.

In the meantime, is there possibly a different way to afford us the opportunity to benefit from your knowledge and this tutorial? Is there a different way for us to download it?

Your response is appreciated! Again - you're very talented and I've bragged about your works to many of my friends. Several of them use your creations right now! Keep up the great work and *please* don't stop skinning for Vista! :) We need more Vista skins...XP is slowly dying (whether we like it or not). It's hard to find good Vista themes - outside of your work.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Hey, thanks for the comment :-)

I'll attempt to address some of the issues you have raised ;-)

I actually jointly own and run the site and I deal with registrations. We want people to join but we like to make sure that spammers and useless accounts don't get on. 50% of registrations are stupid people trying to sell viagra or other useless services so I like to deal with them before they can even make a post.

I'll make no excuses. I often get frustrated by the spam accounts and end up denying people by accident.

Due to the size of the files and badwidth needed, hosting on my site was the only option but now that DA's film section is fully running, I'm thinking about uploading them as a series.

If you reg again, let me know and I'll watch for you to accept you ;-)

Thanks for the kind words about me and my work. It means a lot :-)

Thanks for your response, too! As you suggested, I have now registered again - on March 27th, under the same username as here on DA - 'uradodah'. I followed the instructions to confirm my email/account and the site said my info had been submitted for approval.

I would welcome the opportunity to be a member of the site as I'm sure there's a lot of great info there. For someone like me - who enjoys creating, tweaking, skinning, etc. - but doesn't have the slightest clue on what I'm doing :), I need all the help I can get.

I hope to see my registration accepted in the near future. I will definitely keep my eye out for it.

In the meantime - keep skinning! I really enjoy your dark skins. I'm very picky about every aspect of my desktop/OS, and as far as I can tell, you must have the same preferences as me. You take the extra effort to skin even the smallest details and it doesn't go unnoticed...with me anyway.

All the best!

Hi ^mrrste

I did register at the website and did confirm my account from the email. Still I get a "you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation." error each time after I log in (and go to search to download the tutorial).

Can you please activate me? I really do want to see the tutorial and there aren't any online (at least I could not find and and M$ was not very helpful!)

I replaced the uxtheme.dll system file and all set to try theming, and I feel reading your tutorial will be a great help. Please help? :-)

Cheers!

yea I see where your coming from :) I downloaded it just after I posted the comment, great tut :D

I had ago at creating two skins, from making a new skin then changing the existing xp presets using photoshop, got some good results only did taskbar startmenu and windows, didnt bother with anything else as I just wanted to get a feel for things, figured out how to sort out where or how to change the stretch section on buttons on the startbar for instance (different in skinstudio 6) to the one our using :) and figured out how to hide the user info at the top of the start panel,

so thanks alot for getting me started with the basics and things :) you obviously put alot of hard work into it and I apreciate it :)
